Planning a trip to Cambodia? Whether you’re dreaming of exploring the iconic Angkor Wat or relaxing on the pristine beaches of Sihanoukville, understanding Cambodia’s visa requirements is essential. This guide will help you navigate the visa process, making your travel experience hassle-free.
Most travelers will require a visa to enter Cambodia, but the process is straightforward. Citizens of ASEAN countries like Thailand, Vietnam, and Laos enjoy visa-free entry for short stays (14 to 30 days). For other nationalities, Cambodia offers several options, including Visa on Arrival (VOA), e-Visa, and visas obtained through embassies or consulates.
Tourist Visa (T-Class): Ideal for short-term travel, the Tourist Visa costs approximately $30 USD and allows a 30-day stay. It can be extended once for an additional 30 days, providing a total of 60 days in the country. This visa is available on arrival at major entry points or through an easy online application process.
Ordinary Visa (E-Class): Designed for longer stays, the Ordinary Visa costs around $35 USD on arrival or $42 USD via online application. It grants an initial 30-day stay but can be extended for one, three, six, or twelve months. This visa is suitable for business travelers or expatriates and is required for obtaining a Work Permit.
Visa on Arrival: Available at international airports in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Sihanoukville, as well as key land border crossings. Requirements include a passport valid for at least six months, two passport-sized photos, and the visa fee in USD.
Cambodia e-Visa: The e-Visa is a convenient option for tourists, allowing you to apply online. After filling out the application form, uploading a passport photo, and paying the $36 USD fee, you’ll receive the e-Visa within three business days. It’s accepted at major airports and select land borders.
Embassy or Consulate Visa: For long-term stays or business purposes, you can apply for a visa at a Cambodian embassy or consulate. Requirements typically include a valid passport, application form, photos, and a visa fee, which varies depending on the location.
Tourist visas can be extended once for an additional 30 days, costing approximately $45 USD. Ordinary visas offer more flexibility, with extension options of up to 12 months. Extensions can be processed at the Department of Immigration in Phnom Penh or through authorized agents.
If you overstay your visa, you’ll incur a daily fine of $10 USD. Prolonged overstays may result in stricter penalties, including deportation or re-entry bans. Always check your visa expiration date to avoid unnecessary complications.
Cambodia offers a seamless visa process, ensuring you can focus on enjoying its breathtaking sights and rich culture. Whether you’re exploring ancient temples, discovering hidden waterfalls, or immersing yourself in local traditions, understanding Cambodia’s visa requirements will set the stage for an unforgettable adventure.
